Zach Ramsey is a multidisciplinary artist whose work spans filmmaking, poetry, and emerging art forms. A graduate of the University of Southern California’s MFA program in Film Production, Ramsey creates immersive, story-driven works that live at the intersection of art, technology, and historical narrative.

Influenced by his background as a poet and filmmaker, Ramsey brings a cinematic and lyrical sensibility to his visual art practice. His work investigates the sociological impact of technological change through a deeply human lens—using the past as a portal to explore contemporary shifts in culture, identity, and perception. His creative practice is grounded in a cinematic and lyrical sensibility shaped by years spent writing and studying visual art—most notably during his time living in Florence, Italy, where direct encounters with Renaissance art and architecture deepened his relationship to storytelling and form.

Born and raised in Carol Stream, Illinois, and recently returned to Chicago after a decade in Los Angeles, Ramsey’s creative journey began in literature. He has published five books of poetry, including The Age of Light Enshrined, a long-form epic chronicling the mythos of Hollywood. This commitment to narrative—whether on the page, the screen, or the wall—continues to inform his expanding body of visual work.

 

Ramsey’s practice invites audiences into layered, reflective experiences that challenge conventions and envision new forms of connection in an increasingly digitized world.
